At the exhibition you can admire the ninots, cardboard figures that accompany the monuments of the falleros, which have been selected from each of the commissions, and which will be returned to their respective fallas for the celebration. These are true works of art, carefully done by fallero artists who worked on them during the year. The public plays an important part in the exhibit, for their votes will decide which of the cardboard figures is to be saved from the fire, and taken to the Museo Fallero, where it will be kept along with all the ninots indultats that since 1934 have been spared. |
Each year Fallas is celebrated from March 15th to the 19th inclusive, when the city of Valencia receives some 700 large and small fallas, which are admired not only by Valencians, but also by thousands a visitors who travel to the city to see them. The festivities last till March 19th, the day of the creamà, when the enormous monuments are set alight and engulfed in the flames. The fire, the mascletàs or booming petards, the firework displays and the spirited crowds all contribute to making the festivity, declared a Festival of International Tourism Interest, and well-known worldwide, a most enjoyable experience.
