Older than was First Thought

The ties between Sagunto and Ancient Rome are well documented, but a recent discovery reveals that they appear to go back far earlier than was first thought. This new study, carried out by Pierre Guerin at the behest of the Conselleria for Culture has revealed that the first Roman settlement in Sagunto in fact dated from the first century BC, and ended three centuries later. Equally, Professor Guerin stated that the Via Augusta that is still present in Sagunto, has been conserved in the area as it is close to where the railway tracks have been laid.
