Fiestas to be Altered?

Pedro Hidalgo, the Director General of the Interior ministry yesterday presented the new norms for the bull runs that traditionally form a part of the fiestas in almost every town in the Valencian Community. The new proposals call for heightened security for all those who either watch or take part in these activities, as well as caring for the animals involved. The new proposals also call for extra resistance in the protective barriers and demand that they be anchored firmly to the ground. Also under revision are portable bullrings, and ‘these should have exactly the same characteristics as the fixed bullrings’.
