Best in 5 Years

The Benidorm Hotel Association HOSBEC revealed yesterday that hotel occupancy for July stood at 90%, which represents the highest occupancy figure for the hotels in recent memory, and is almost two percentage points higher than the same period last year, despite having more rooms available. A statement from HOSBEC revealed a ‘quiet satisfaction’ min the hotel sector as ‘other similar offers from Turkey, Egypt or Tunisia had problems of their own such as avian flu and the threat of terrorist attacks. The figures released yesterday also revealed that for the first time this year, Spanish tourists were in the majority with 51%, followed by the British – 35.1% - the Portuguese – 4.4% - and the Belgians with 3.2%.
